Yesterday, the CSO said he was taking a leave of absence to play with the NYPhil and would retain his position as CSO principal, but the NY Times and the NY Phil said he had been hired as the new principal.

(a little off topic) but william i see that you're from Madison Wisconsin and I was curious if you heard about the madison scouts? im marching with them as part of the color guard this summer! also on topic, very interesting. i was following to see who was going to be appointed the position. but congrats for him! im excited to see how he sounds

I could be wrong but isn't it standard protocol to take a year's leave of absence when you win another gig? The CSO principal flutist did it when he won the LA Phil audition but then opted to come back.
John Yeh, the assistant principal should be the acting principal during this next year. He did a FANTASTIC job as acting principal in the time between Combs and Williamson. I look forward to hearing concerts next season with him leading the section.
