 Pilates/clarinet breathing

Any of you Pilates people out there! I have just been recommended to do some Pilates exercises which seems to recommend lateral/bellows breathing. Do you think this would help with clarinet breathing, as an added bonus, or are they completely different. I suspect clarinet breathing is lower in the abdomen but...

I'm not sure it matters. Pilates is meant to build strength and endurance, especially for people with back problems. If you aren't looking for the exercise benefits, clarinet breathing can certainly be learned and practiced in other ways. If you want what the Pilates program offers as an exercise program, go for it.
