How many people tongue on the harder side, the tongue hits the reed hard. Who uses the tip of the tongue and who uses the center of the tongue.

I have to use the tip for very short deliberate attacks, mainly the more modern type of music. For the earlier type of music that asks for more smoothness I'm flat tonguing and I am also much faster.

I am a new student. I use the tip of my tounge for most notes by as I get to the higher notes the contact point moves back on my tounge. Not sure this is the right approach.
