Does anyone have any information about this clarinet? I found one for 200 dollars in excellent condition.

They are from the late 60s or early 70s, have only played one very briefly once and found it pretty horrible but that could just be me! Not sure about the market in the US but that sounds a bit expensive to me, for that sort of money I'd expect to find a much more recent beginners plastic Yamaha or Buffet.

$200 is way too much for a YCL 22. It's an early Yamaha student instrument, nowhere near as good as their later offerings. Look for a Yamaha C100 or Buffet B12 at around the same price, or a Vito for less.

I agree with the previous posters that $200 is too much for a YCL-22. I probably wouldn't consider any Yamaha student clarinet older than the YCL-20 (which is nearly identical to the current YCL-250).

I don't want to get off topic, but is $260 dollars a good deal for a YCL-34? I'm considering buying one since it does not cost much more than the YCL-22.

Depends on the condition. The YCL-34 is very similar to the current YCL-450 and is one of the better intermediate clarinets out there. A price of $260 may be a reasonable deal. At that price I suspect that the instrument probably still has it's original pads and will need an overhaul so plan on tacking $200-$300 onto the price to pay for that. That would still put you in the $500 range which is realistically what you should expect to pay for a used intermediate level clarinet of decent quality so it is worth considering.

Yep, assuming it is in reasonable condition that sounds a great buy to me, though if US prices are similar to UK prices I'd be looking carefully as it almost suspiciously cheap. And of course it is a wooden clarinet so you do need to make sure it isn't cracked as they do take a bit more looking after and often don't fair so well in the hands of young clarinettists! Though as SteveG says even with a full refurb you still likely wouldn't loose money selling straight away if it is basically sound.

This is the ended auction that I purchased it from. I think I will need to replace some of the pads.

I agree. Judging from the pictures the pads are pretty much shot. I would bring it to a repair tech for a full overhaul.
