Good time to do a little publicity (posted as news) considering all the posts about poor customer service at your store in the last few weeks.

Looking forward to the day at Weiner (Sept 19) seeing many Clarinet players. We will have fun talking about Clarinets and trying lots of stuff! I will also be working with Mark in their shop doing custom tuning, voicing and adjustments....Come on by and say hello.
Red Chair....I suggest that you visit Weiner yourself to see how the service and selection is. If you can, come by when I am there.
Regards to all

Well, I had great customer service when I bought my greenlines there four years ago. I loved Weiner's and so did the friends who went up to NY with me. I only wish I could go there more!

If I do make it to Weiner, it certainly will not be when the shop is hosting another maker. I like to test away from the makers as from my experience they are pushy and do not listen, just try to sell their own products

If you go by car, take the Long Island Expressway to exit 39 south to the Northern State Parkway. Go to exit 31 (not 31A) and go right (west) on Jericho Turnpike about a mile to Weiner at number 168. The sign says Poppa's Music Center.
Whatever you do, don't try to save a couple of miles of driving by getting off the Cross Island or Northern State at Jericho and going east. It's a nightmare of unsynchronized traffic lights.

Red Chair,
Head to The Rock of Gibraltar, pass westward through the Straits, continue due west to the coast and then follow Ken's directions. We wouldn't want you gettin lost or anything. If you can make it that is.

Wish I could be there. I think it's a great thing for instrument makers to be that involved with meeting players and answering questions--players should realize how rare an opportunity this sort of thing is.
And Morrie, if you're reading this, please know that some of us out here would be very interested if you ever put your skills towards developing a new large bore horn, updating the old concept of the large bore Selmers, Conns, and Leblancs. To have a North American maker of those type horns would be great.
(and if you want to call it the MoBazooka, I'm cool with that).
Eric

Thanks Eric,
I may have to do a design JUST to call it the MoBaZooKa! Great name....Thanks Eric....FYI We are doing some experimentation with different bores.....Stay tuned.
Red Chair, I am sorry that you had such negative experiences with some makers. Most of the people I meet in the industry seem very interested in trying their best to help players. Of course it does not seem unusual for makers to have strong beliefs in their products. Many of these people are an invaluable resource to players.
I regularly work with players using instruments from other makers, including Buffet, Leblanc, Selmer Paris, Wurlitzer, Yamaha and a host of others. I also work with players using almost every make of mouthpiece, barrel, bell and other goodies. My goal is always to try and help each player achieve what they seek and overcome obstacles to make their efforts fruitful.....Whether they play Backun products or not. There is no one size fits all solution for every player "out of the box." That is one of the reasons that individualized setup, tuning and voicing are appreciated by many players.
The original theme of this thread was to let players know that I will be at Weiner Music on the 19th of September and I look forward to seeing many players there and talking "Clarinet."
