Marvin Hamlisch, our friend and colleague at the NY Pops has passed on at age 68.
He will be missed by all of us who knew him well at his many venues here in NYC.
Rest in peace Marvin.

I remember him appearing (probably in the early 80's) on the classic UK chat show Parkinson and doing an improvised song on a lyric suggested by an audience member ("Love is cheese made risible" for the record) long before that kind of thing was fashionable.

I never "A Chorus Line" whenever the film is on television. Great tunes and
fun.

May be he's up there jamming with Gershwin, Porter, Kern and the rest.

Vanessa.

What a great musician and person. I was in the band for just one of his performances. I was most taken with what he did at the piano. He really knew how to take a broadway tune and interpret it beautifully. Beyond that he exhibited a great sense of humour and spirit on stage.
