 Music Suggestions

Hi,
I recently switched from playing the saxophone (Grade 5) to the clarinet. I'm really enjoying it but have run out of music to play.

I have bought a clarinet beginner book and 80 graded studies for the clarinet book 1 by Faber but they are too simple.

I have transposed my favourite pieces from the sax which I like playing on the clarinet. These are written by James Rae. I was considering buying his book for the clarinet but I'm not very good at interpreting music when I haven't heard it before. I dont have a teacher so I cant get anyone to play them for me and there is no CD included.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good song book that includes famous pieces (so that I can look them up on youtube and listen to what they sound like). I like playing this

but have only got to the 5th page and struggle to get higher than a middle A.
I would like to play something fun that is possibly about grade 5 standard.

Also does anyone know of any good websites that contain free sheet music?

Thanks in advance :)

Google the Clarinet Institute. You can download a lifetime of music for free or for a very low price, you can buy the discs. They also have a disc of mp3 files which is very helpful when you are deciding what piece you would like to play.

I like Melodious and Progressive Studies by David Hite. Very melodic, a joy to play and listen to. There are books 1 and 2, so choose based on your desired difficulty.

Good Luck

The rose etudes are good, but some are pretty difficult.

IMSLP is a awesome site to get free music.

Access on achievement are good books. Book one may be too simple(Maybe not. I'm not sure), but they have 2 more books that are more harder.
