I clicked on this the other day while working at my desk and quickly minimized it to get some other computer work done. After hearing some really interesting percussive sounds, I maximized it and found out what slap tongue was all about.

Interesting, but a little bit goes a long ways. I liked his "normal" playing tho.

Never seen it done like that before. When I do it (or when I've seen it), the tongue isn't visible - it all happens inside!

I've wanted to learn slap tongue but never got results from the hints mentioned on this forum.
This external tongue thing does look different from what others players do. I wonder if it correlates with the fact that he is playing soprano clarinet. Slap tongue is said to be easier to learn on the low horns, and few practitioners make it work on the soprano.
The novelty players of the twenties were able to play at a speed that makes me doubt they were doing it this way. On recordings it's mostly the low saxophones.
