Pretty sure he's been selling that for well over a year. I think there's even been a couple of threads here about it.

He has been offereing them foe several years. I have one of them. I actually like it but you have to get used to the key layout and the weight. I went with the the Fhred stand thing instead of a strap.
If you are interested in them Tom does offer a trial period.

Wouldn't the weight be less than a wooden one? (it's hard rubber right?)

Hard rubber is heavier than wood. Specific gravity for grenadilla is a guess, but probably 900-1000 kg/cu.m, less than but similar to ebony. Hard rubber is at least 1500.

They may be around the same weight or possibly slightly heavier than a wooden Leblanc basset clarinet - but at least the main body joint is in two pieces on them whereas the Leblanc appears to have a one piece body which I don't think is a good idea.

The basset clarinet is no longer listed on their website. Too bad, I really wanted one.

Density of grenadilla and hard rubber are about the same, according to lists I have found on the internet.

But in this particular case the density of grenadilla vs hard rubber is of little relevance as the basset clarinet is no longer available...

Not many were sold. I like mine. I don't think the market supported Tom keepng them in manufacture.

I will say if hardley ever gets used but it is fun to bring out and play on .

Clarinetist, if you are really interested in one I would suggest Contacting Tom and see if he help you with getting one. I thought that there was one left last time I was at his shop having my contra looked at.

If not I saw in Lohff and Pfeiffer cataloge that they has a couple used available.
