I cannot wait to hear him play with the LA Phil this weekend! It'll be amazing for sure, AND my teacher is performing in the clarinet section as well! So stoked!

I speak German as a second language and my wife was born in Germany and although Mr. Frost is not German, a German would pronounce the O with two dots over it ( o umlaut) as eeuu or half way between an English E and an English U sound. Mr. Frost glossed over it so quickly in the video that you can not hear how distinctly different this vowel sound is from any English vowel sound. Once again his name is Mahteen Freuust.

Clarimeister, hopefully you'll get to hear him in a concert venue, not that horrible Hollywood Bowl thing. He's a pretty darn awesome musician and deserves to be heard in a venue with acceptable acoustics. dn

Yes, that's quite right. Being German myself, I would recommend rhyming it with the word "burst" (just leave out the "r" without changing the vowel) or with "rest" - it is somewhere between these two.
Just in case somebody wants to know: when spelling Umlauts on a keyboard without Umlauts, it is customary in German to replace the dots by an appended 'e', so 'ö' becomes 'oe', 'ü' becomes 'ue' and 'ae' replaces 'ä'.

Yeah it's at Walt Disney Concert Hall. The only time I think the Phil plays in the Bowl is for like pops concerts or or events. I've only seen them play there once. Disney Hall is a phenomenal hall with amazing acoustics!
