 Kudos to Brian Collins

Well another weekend and I ran into another very fine clarinetist. This time it was at silent film festival and low and behold one of the the features was accompanied by the "Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra" (piano, violin, cello, trumpet and clarinet). Brian Collins is also the principal clarinet of the Longmont Symphony Orchestra back in Colorado.

Brian featured some of the most subtle playing I've heard in a long time. And if any of you are tired of the same-o' same-o' Transformeresque movies, you can hear Brian on the score to several silent films on DVD: Way Down East 1920 (performed in Kansas this weekend), The Wishing Ring 1914, The Thief of Bagdad 1924 and the Mark of Zoro 1920.

Great stuff.
