 manufacturing reeds

Would it be better to cut the reed after it has been warped? Or do companies already do this.

If not, cutting a reed dry just to have it warped by soaking into something random seems a bit odd to me

I can't speak for the commercial process, but a colleague of mine that made reeds used to soak them in spit, and slap them on glass every step of the process. At the end, none of her reeds ever warped.
