All I know about this is that it's a B&H Emperor Wooden Clarinet.
The mouthpiece has been replaced and its new, the clarinet works very well and has been taken care of but I can't find information about the serial number:

P9328

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thank you.

As far as I know B&H never used letters as part of their serial numbers. The keywork on your clarinet is also different from what I'm accustomed to seeing on B&H clarinets (I have 5 of them). Every B&H clarinet I have encountered uses 3 posts for the trill keys while yours has 4. Also the style of the throat A and G# keys are different from what I have seen on B&H instruments as is the shape of the trill key guide.

The style of thumbrest is also different and the serial number seems to be stamped at the bell end of the lower joint rather than the socket end where B&H usually stamped them. Typically on the lower joint you it would also be stamped "made in England" just about the serial number but I don't see this on your clarinet. Furthermore, it appear that the style of tenon rings used on the lower joint and barrel are a different style than the one used on the bell.

I suspect that your clarinet was made by a different company and that the original bell was replaced by one from a B&H at some point.

Check out Selmer. It looks very similar to mine (apart from the bell of course).

The bell may be B & H Emperor, but the clarinet probably isn't. I have 2, 1 early and 1 late, and neither of them look anything like that.

It's definately not an Emperor.
B&H never made those with fork Eb/Bb (only Imperials were available with extra keywork) and the thumbrest on lower joint is not B&H. The key shapes are wrong for B&H.
The Emperor bell would seem to date from the early/mid 50s based on the logo stamp.

Hmm, thanks for the responses guys. I know nothing about clarinets so would you suggest that the best idea to get to the bottom of this is to take it to a music instrument store and have someone look at it?

Well anything's worth a try, but the staff in many "music instrument" stores are frequently lacking in expertise in these areas so you would need to find a store with a competent tech or other staff member - best of luck with that!!

Sad but true. Here in the States the vast majority of music shops tend to cater to the guitar/drums crowd and everyone else is either an afterthought or just outright ignored. Specialty shops that carry wind instrument supplies do still exist but they are few and far between. I suspect the situation is probably the same in most countries.

Most high street music shops in the UK are generally geared towards guitar, keyboard, drums, harmonicas, sheet music and accessories as that's what the general public want.

They may carry some woodwind and brass instruments but they're usually beginner level Chinese imports and usually won't have much knowledge about them and even less knowledge about pro or older instruments. Chances are they'll have very little info on specialist woodwind, brass or stringed instrument shops or repairers so they're very often not of much help to anyone outside the instruments or accessories they deal in (or even the actual instruments/accessories they deal in!).
