Does anyone have strong opinions on Foglietta reeds?
http://www.foglietta.com/
I'm intrigued by the fact that they play test every reed they sell.
Then again, I can do the same thing (play test them) with a box of high end manufacturer reeds--doesn't make em' any better.
Thanks.

Play test every reed they sell? That doesn't sound very healthy to me. Nor does it insure that the reed is going to play any better on my mouthpiece.

Perhaps the word I should have used is "handselect," is it applies to the reeds they sell; where such handselection (their word) is done via play testing--or so they claim.

I'm inquiring with them now as to what sterity measures they take, if any, subsequent to their play testing, but prior to their boxing of their product. I will relay any information I acquire from Foglietta to the bboard.
And yes--even though "handselecting" versus mere "play testing" sounds (no auditory pun intended) more rigourous, it doesn't mean they're shipping "gems" (i.e. great reeds), or for that matter, that one player's gem reed isn't sometimes another player's trash.
Cynically, I can't help but believe that if Foglietta was producing reeds worth their weight in gold, that word would have not already gotten out..but maybe some of you out there have tried the product and have words of criticism or praise for them.
Of course, I wish this company the best, but bear no (fudiciary) relationship with them whatsoever.
Many thanks.
