 Interest Free Loans
Author: rlemus

My name is Rebecca Lemus and I am looking for a good recommendation for an interest free loan company.

My Bflat is lo longer usable as it was destroyed in an accident ( I did not have insurance)

I am actually first looking for a loan for basic living expenses and eventuallly to purchase a new horn.

Currently I do teach privately, play the occasional Jewish wedding, community orchestra gig and improvise with dancers, and attend occasional jazz jam sessoins. I have been borrowing other people's instruments in the meanwhile.

Let me know if anyone has any recommendations of interest free loans that can help with basic living expenses.

-Thanks
Rebecca Lemus!

I unfortunately don't have a lead on a loan, but you might want to look into arts grants from your state. Here in MN we have a few programs which work really well (if you get them)!

I'm not aware of any interest free loan companies, but there may be a few options. Are you a credit union member? Credit unions often offer small loans at great rates, but you'd have to be able to prove that you could pay it back.

You mentioned Jewish weddings. Are you Jewish? If so, you might be able to get an interest-free loan from a local Hebrew Free Loan association. Chances are, though, that you'd have to have a cosigner. It might also be worth contacting your state's Department of Social Services for advice.

If you want an interim clarinet until you can afford a professional model, consider a used Vito. Decent used ones seem to be very widely available, and you can probably find one at an affordable price.

Best of luck to you!

As far as interest-free financing for instruments, Tom Ridenour offers free financing terms on his Lyrique clarinets. I can't think of a place that will lend you money for living expenses, free of charge.

Info on the Ridenour line is here:
