 Hello friends,

I just wanted to touch bases. I've been so busy, that I haven't even visited this forum in a long time!

Anyhow, I am performing at the ICA in Northridge, California at 1:00 PM, on August 5th. This will be during the David Etheridge memorial concert. David was my second clarinet teacher, so I am extremely honored to have been invited to perform.

I commissioned a new work for the occasion, dedicated to David. I am learning it now and am excited to premier it with Gail Novak on piano. It was written by Maurice Saylor, a Washington, DC composer. The title is "Comic Symphony" and I will play two movements, Overture and Romanza. The other movement(s) have not been written yet.

I hope everyone can attend the ICA this summer, and for everyone that can attend, I hope you can make the David Etheridge memorial concert!

I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

 Cheers,
 Ben

Hi Ben, i'll see you at the Etheridge concert (i'll be performing a short little piece). The 'fest looks great this year- I'm playing with two other groups and am starting to regret being so busy as i'll miss some great concerts. Check out Aussie Richard Haynes for some great modern music- he's playing on Schwenk und Seggelke clarinets btw and sounds GREAT. I'm hoping i have time for a lesson on my classical clarinet while there, but might run out of time!
see you in 2 weeks eh?

I heard Richard Haynes in Melbourne recently. He sounded fantastic, I wasn't aware he was playing a German (Boehm???) instrument. Great sound.
 Chris.

I'm fairly certain Richard Haynes plays on Buffet clarinets, but I'm sure he'd also play amazingly on Schwenk und Seggelke too

I saw him about a year ago playing S+S boehm system clarinets. If he's not using them anymore, I'll have them! Will ask friends to see if he's still playing them...

(not that it matters that much but....)
Photos on facebook of him playing in November 2010 show him using these S+S clarinets.
