Anyone know what this is? It has W.H. Stubbins etched on the bottom of it, and measures around under 3"x1.5" I guess that W.H. probably stands for
William H Stubbins who was a professor of clarinet at the University of Michigan in the 1940's to the early 1970's. But is the item a reed holder or perhaps something to reface a clarinet reed? Thanks in advance.

That looks like a reed holder.

I have one someplace that is in white/tan plastic. Let me see if I can find it. As I recall, it may have been produced by LeBlanc.

I figured it wasn't a reed holder as a Bb clarinet reed hangs just under 1/2" off the end, and doesn't reach the 2nd black bar.
Anyways, if anyone wants it (free), please feel free contact me here or over here:

It's a "reed holder" i.e. container, not a ligature "reed holder"

The reed may hang off, because the Vandorens from years back were a bit thinner than today's reeds, especially compared to today's V12 style.
