Can anyone tell me where I can buy an alto clarinet case in the UK? Mine is wearing out fast and I need a new one.
There was a thread on here somewhere which I can't find but they only gave websites in the US and I need a UK supplier.

You may also check the various Amati dealers. Part# 6234 and 6236 are Alto clarinet cases for ACL 681 and 682, respectively.

Good point. So far I assumed it were for a split-joint instrument. Else you can always find a used Bundy case...

My alto clarinet case is ridiculously heavy. As a temporary music camp fix I got a suitable mailing tube and some bubble wrap,and put it in a guitar backpack. I'm still carrying it that way.

It's a Bundy and it'a a single body instrument. Only the bell and crook/m.pce detach.

I have one like the USA Band case, which the music store modified to fit my breakaway LeBlanc. It would probably be a simple process to make this case fit a single body instrument again.
If it were cheap to mail there from Nebraska, you could have it.

Another option is to scavenge the yard sales and flea markets for a large attaché case (the kind with leather or mock-leather over a wooden box) and custom-design the interior to fit the instrument. In the Washington, D.C. area (a target-rich environment), during the March-November yarding season, I don't believe I've ever failed to spot at least one of these well-made cases for sale every Saturday. Typical prices are $2 to $7.

The issue is that the Bundy has a one-piece body whose length exceeds many of the usual-sized attache cases and similar receptacles...

My alto (Selmer) comes apart at the middle and is in its original case, but put together without neck or bell, the body is 25-1/2 inches long. The case (to provide room for protective padding at both ends) probably would have to be at least 28" long on the outside. Go yarding in upscale neighborhoods where the architects and lawyers live. There's a size of attaché case that I'm pretty sure is long enough.
Lawyers and architects used those long cases in situations where they needed to travel with blueprints and didn't want to fold them, but also didn't want to send flat blueprints in airline cargo holds (wanted to keep these materials under personal control). People are getting rid of those cases for next to nothing now because the modern briefcases have wheels.
In any neighborhood, you also can find small suitcases (ditched for the same reason: no wheels), although the ones I've seen have the opposite problem: they're too big and bulky. They could make multi-clarinet cases but they're too big to fit under an airline seat or in the overhead bin.

Alto clarinets are fairly rare beasts in the UK as not many bands use them here. No UK military bands use them to my knowledge and few concert bands have alto clarinet players in them. So finding any alto cases for one piece body altos in the UK is a tall order. Maybe a case can be fabricated from marine ply or some kind of electrical case usd for carrying cables and other stage sound or lighting equipment will do the job.
John (original post), how bad condition is your case? Is it salvageable in any way? If the shell is relatively intact but the insides are all worn out, you can get blocks of high density foam and cut them to shape, glue them in and cover with black velvet. If the shell is coming apart at the corners, they can be reinforced by glueing and fixing a metal L bracket to keep them from coming apart. Hinges and clasps can be bought from most craft or hardware shops as can handles, and any rivets, nuts or bolts going through can be reinforced on the back with washers or steel plates.
