Hello,
The title says it all : considering the differences of keywork of these clarinets, I'm wondering whether a Selmer clarinet would fit in a Buffet pochette case. Has anyone tried this?

I tried it and the whole lot spontaneously combusted giving off toxic fumes!
Seriously though, I think you'll be alright - just make sure the joints fit in their compartments easily and don't have to be forced in.

But the Buffet or Selmer police forces didn't come with the helicopters, right? :-D

Actually that's why i asked if someone has tried this. If I buy such a case, it will be online, I won't have the opportunity to make sure it fits... and I would rather avoid forcing the clarinet in !

The inside of the case is pliable so you can reshape the compartments where they could be on the tight side, but other than that I think any Selmer (with the exception of the Recital) will fit well.

When I mean any Selmer should fit, I mean Selmers that are standard 17 key 6 rings to 18 key 7 rings (LH Ab/Eb lever and forked Eb/Bb mechanism). Selmers with articulated C#/G# may fit with a bit of a squeeze for the lower joint which is slightly longer at the socket end, but any standard Selmer should fit easily in a Buffet pochette case.
The Recital has wider diameter joints so that could cause it to be a tight fit if the case lining isn't pliable enough. The case innards will soon adapt themselves to whatever instrument is kept in there.
But if it's a 10S, 10SII, 10G, Prologue, Signature, St.Louis, Artys, Odyssey or Privilege (and standard length joints Series 10, Series 9 and 9*, Centered Tone, Balanced Tone, Modele 55, Radio Improved, etc.) then they should all fit well in any single Bb case.
I keep my Selmers in Yamaha cases as they're incredibly well made and fitted out.

Yamaha cases seem great but I can't find where to buy them (preferably in Europe...).

IMO the Buffet Pochette case is just not good. I see a lot of them with ruined latches. I'm sure you'll find a lot of people saying how their pochette cases never had a problem, I know pochette cases with no problems too. But statistically I see them break a lot more than most cases.
I'm sure thwere are many but some places to order in Europe are Thomann (in Germany) and Howarth (in UK).

I would not waste my money on a Pouchette case. The ones I have seen (and owned) have been shoddily constructed and did not last.

The Yamaha pro and Custom single Bb cases are excellent should you decide to go for one of these - they usually have a zip up vinyl case cover as well so you needn't worry about the latches failing.

I am a fan of the pochette style cases. Most clarinets should fit no problem, unless a different style with different body dimensions (Recital, Yamaha CSG, etc) I have a double case that I have used for around 25 years with no problems. The exterior is fine. The fabric inside is wearing a bit.

Neither Thomann nor Howarth seem to sell yamaha cases, nor Buffet pochette case. Thomann does sell a Jakob Winter case that looks similar though, maybe I'll go for that.
Any idea where to find a yamaha case? I can't find a shop that has them in stock...

The Winter case is the same as the Buffet case as they make them for Buffet.
If you're after a Yamaha case then that will either have to be a special order, or you may find one left behind at a woodwind specialist if it was left in favour of having a double case at the time of sale of a pair of clarinets (and may be on special offer).

Audrey, if you haven't already, you might try this:

Click on Europe and then choose one of the countries from the drop down list. Then select "Musical Instruments" then Clarinets (however spelled), then Dealers. The site will ask you to enter a city or postal code, then will give you a list of Yamaha dealers. If you call around, you might find someone who has or can order you a case.

Sicne you originally asked about a Buffet pochette case and then was interested in other cases too, I assumed you didn't really decide what case you want. I gave those as options for stores in europe which sell cases, I didn't check what cases they have.
