1928 Buffet with One Piece Body
Author: ThomasMcDrum

Hello all. I recently came across what I believe is a 1928 Buffet Crampon clarinet, and I'm looking for any info I can get on it. I was able to aquire it from the original owner's grandson, who must have been in his 50s himself. I'm hoping to get the thing serviced this week, with new cork, pads, cleaning, oiling, etc. What I am wanting to know is how common are these one piece body clarinets? Can anyone enlighten me on this thing? I found a very faint 1018 on the body, near the bell. That's how I came to the 1928 assumption.

I'm planning on keeping it, then passing it down to my kids, so I want to know all I can about it. I'll link to some pictures, if that'll help.

Thanks in advance.
