Mannheim school clarinet works and or composers
Author: metalheadsimon

Hey everyone

i currently have a friend investigating the use of clarinet within the mannheim school of the classical period. He currently has knowledge of Stamitz, Blaisius, Dimmler and Tausch.

Any other composers, works or info within the Mannheim school regarding clarinets would be much appreciated.

Thanks muchly

just looking at the back of my "mannheimer Schule" box set, and see a few names not on your list: Danzi, Demar, Fiala, von Winter, Fuchs.
ps - the inside pamphlet to this 5CD Arte Nova box set has a good essay on the Mannheim scene.
all the best, Luca1.

Im not sure but Molter was maybe a member of the 'Mannheim school' too. At least he was an early composer.

This is not the best place to ask your question. Go to the music reference librarian at the U. of of Huddersfield, who will be able to give you chapter and verse. For example, there's a book in German on the Mannheuim group http://www.amazon.com/Komponistengruppe-Mannheimer-Neudeutsche-Chrennikows-Florentiner/dp/1159102694/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1296087393&sr=8-9, which you should be able to get through inter-library loan.

Whatever you think of his playing (variable) or scholarship (very variable) Dieter Klöcker has discovered and recorded a large number of previously unknown clarinet concertos by going to the archives of Mannheim courts. Begin at http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/artist/Dieter+Klocker/a/albums.htm and <http://www.hbdirect.com/browse_classical.php?v[0]=performer&performer=K&do=specific_performer&specific_performer=Klocker%2C+Dieter>.

Karl Schlechta issued a 5-CD box called Mannheimer Schule. http://www.amazon.com/Mannheimer-Schule-Vols-1-5-Box/dp/B000005IAH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296087393&sr=8-1

Amazon has a number of titles under the name Mannheimer Schule http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=mannheimer+schule&x=0&y=0.

Good luck. If you make a comprehensive list, please consider putting it on line.
