Hi all, I was wondering if the Woodwind Brand double clarinet case is actually worth buying? I saw it on sale for 25 bucks and thought it was the deal of a lifetime. If anyone has it I'd like some comments about, what you like and don't like

I've got one. It's a very good case for the money but don't expect it to be equivalent to the cases costing 5-10 times as much. The only issue I have with it is that the slots for the upper joints are a bit larger than I would like and might allow the upper joint to move around a bit. My solution was to place a piece of heavy flannel cloth in the slot and then lay the upper joint on top. This took up all of the extra room and kept things from moving around.
The accessory compartment is on the small side but large enough to hold my swab, a container of cork grease, a full box of reeds, a reed clipper, and a case humidifier with room to spare. There is a pocket on the outside that I guess you could put sheet music in but I prefer to carry my music in a folder.

I have one and for the price you cannot go wrong at all. Little more storage space would be nice but would make the size larger.

I have one also, and I think that the slots for the upper joints are meant to go in at a partly-sideways angle, if you know what I mean....with the right hand touchpieces down and the left hand ones up. The joints fit much better that way and don't move around at all.

Does anyone have a picture of the inside of this case (with or without clarinets is fine). And how many barrels/mouthpieces will it hold? Thanks!

Doesnt look to shabby considering its 25 bucks. I was planning to get the Buffet leather double case, but found that I couldnt afford spending 100 dollars plus for a case, this will do fine.

My only complaint about the case is there is no room for a fold up instrument stand. You have to mash down the area between the top of a bell and a mouthpiece and have the end of the stand stuck in the bottom of the mouthpiece. I works but......you can't have everything for $25, I think I paid $40 for mine but got free shipping.

Oh, yes, it is a good idea an no disadvantage at all. The new etuis, which have this foam filling deliberately allow for that and other adjustments as well to achieve proper space but close fit for a larger bell, voluminous thumb rest, tuning barrel, etc. p.p.
I did exactly the same thing you describe with a Protec case and it is just fine.

I have one and it works fine. I see no need to spend hundreds on something that doesn't even go with me on stage. It protects the horn just as well as most other cases, but don't expect it to be the strongest out there. Also, it is rather light.
On the down side... when I got mine it had the most disgusting stench from the glue and plastic should "pads" on the straps. The case spent 2 weeks outside and open to try and get rid of the smell- it mostly got rid of the smell. The plastic "pads" still smelled horrid, so I cut them off.

It's a strange smell - not an easy one to describe. Almost like a burning smell.
I bought one of these cases for my Selmers (19/7 Series 9* pair) but never used it as I bought an older Yamaha double case for them instead. But this case hasn't been made redundant as the owner of the Marigaux pair whose clarinets I rebuilt late last year bought it off me as it keeps all the joints separated unlike the old B&H double case he had which kepth each of the clarinets in two halves.

Just my two-cents worth: I had one of these cases and found it to be well constructed, strong wrap-around zipper with ample compartments to carry my two R13's and aux mpc, brls, etc. It was lightweight and protected the instruments well. The ONLY thing I did not like was the small outer music compartment--much too tight to carry more than a couple sheets of music. It did not come with backstraps like the Bam cases have, which are kind of nice if you do a lot of biking.
Bottom line: I traded it off to a local college for a single A clarinet case for one of my other Buffet A's, and use my older Yamaha soft-side double case for my concert set of clarinets instread. That leaves me with a Leblanc double case which holds my set of Concertos and an empty stock Buffet double case with an Altieri case cover just collecting dust.

I don't use mine except for storage of extra horns. It's not as well made as the ProTec BUT I think at $25 you can't beat it, just add some reeds to your order so it totals $49+, and you get the free shipping.
In my opinion the ProTec is 100% better made, more durable, better zippers, more comfortable shoulder strap...but the WWBW case would work until you could afford something better.

The one that I bought which was during the last year did have the backpack straps. William maybe the one that you had was an older model. I would have rather had a hard case with case cover but for the price you cannot go wrong.

I have some colleagues who have the Protec double case. My complaint is that the outside music pocket should be the same size as the case to enable one to carry large sheets of music.

True, the outside pocket could be larger. But how many clarinet cases come with a built in sheet music compartment? A few of them do, but most don't. Even the Buffet double cases which cost hundreds of dollars don't.

I've had one for several years. On the most important feature, will it protect your clarinets, the answer is yes. All 6 surfaces are built on plywood.
My only complaint, as noted by others, is that the zippered music compartment is very thin, capable of holding not much more than a thin exercise book or similar.
At $25 it's an incredible bargain.

I just received mine in the mail, and I think this case is amazing. On thing I did not like at all was that my A did not fit, and I had to push the material so that I could fit it in. Also I could smell the smoke smell, but it went away in about an hour. Also the pocket outside is wonderful, and I can fit my band folder inside for easy traveling. Overall I love this case, and it'll be a great add on to my collection. Thanks for all the comments guys!
