Since Louis Chuzac died in 1960, the 1972 date is obviously the date of Billadot's edition, not the date of composition.

I didn't find any date of composition with a quick review of Google results, but Grove entries usually give the information. You should also look at Pamela Weston, Clarinet Virtuosi of the Past. However, it's out of print and copies go for extravagant prices http://www.amazon.com/Clarinet-Virtuosi-Past-Pamela-Weston/dp/095062098X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1295455046&sr=8-1, and I'm not sure it has composition dates. An interlibrary loan would be your best bet.

As a last resort, you could look at the liner notes for the recordings listed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Cahuzac.

Good luck.

Groves & Oxford Online didn't have the dates; neither did the NYPL or LoC. Raphael Sanders did his DMA dissertation on Cahuzac, so he might be a good reference for you.

Not sure of the date, but wanted to share a great story.
Cahuzac is one of my favorite clarinetists. I also like Gino Cioffi very much.
Awhile back I was going through some music, came across a copy of Cahuzacs Fantasie variee. Opened up, and never noticed there was a message on the inside cover. Message reads:
"A Monsieur Cioffi,
clarinetti soloa la Boston Symphony Orchestra
En loute sympattice artistique (sic?)
signed,
LOUIS CAHUZAC Paris 1952

Cahuzac had beautiful handwriting-very florid.
So I have a copy of music, with a dedication from one of my favorite clarinetists, to another of my favorite clarinetists.
