Hi There,
I am writing this to call upon the wisdom and knowledge of all willing to share it. Some years ago I have purchased a Dupont metal clarinet with a serial number of 358 and tonight I took it to practice as I am going to use it as my outdoor clarinet for occaissions such as rememberance day where the climate will most likely be unfavorable, it drew quite a bit of attention and people said I should research this instrument but I have not had much luck other than the Conn company was for a short time affiliated with a person by the name of Dupont.
if someone knows where I can find info about this or if you know off the top of your head then thats great.
thank you for your time.

http://www.ulgheri.it/instrumentos/marcaselogotipos/stencil.htm
The website above lists many stencil brands, with their importers and/or manufacturers. They list an M. Dupont as a name used by Sears for imported French instruments (if my espanol is correcto). Nothing under just Dupont. Sections of this site are headed "New Langwell Index", not sure if its the whole Index, or just part.

Eugene Dupont was an inventor and maker of brass instruments who was briefly in business with Conn, 1876 - 1879.
M. Dupont was a trade name used by Sears, Roebuck for woodwinds imported from France. Can't say who the real maker was as they stencilled horns from a number of manufacturers.

Hi There,
I want to thank you for the help with this I have the M. Dupont superior metal clarinet so what i have found out is that it was most likely available between 1918 and 1930 through the Sears Roebuck company and that the true maker is not known but contrary to some mine is listed as Germany not France as the country of orgin, so just putting it out there.
and thank you again for your time and knowledge it was very helpfull.
