Over time there have been a number of study book that focus around scales in various keys and in many different guises, eg. in 3rds, 4th etc., down to tonic after each note, full range of the instrument, arpeggios in different shapes. I am looking for some ideas at two levels - one at roughly college/conservatoire level for myself, and more intermediate/late elementary for my pupils. I already use Demnitz for the latter stage but find it quite dry and uninteresting, at least after a while. What about Baermann 3, Klose etc.
At least in the UK the term 'scales' often means memorising masses of scales for ABRSM or Trinity exams, mostly up and down only, and studies depend what crops up in list C at various grades. I am looking for a change.
