 old Woodwind Co. MP dating
Author: Chloe

I own what I think is a quite old Woodwind Co. mouthpiece, which plays well for me. Another one that I also own has a different type of insignia, and I was wondering if anyone has knowledge of corresponding generations of these mps.

The MP I like has Woodwind in gold raised letters on the bottom back, with a raised gold oval outlining it. There is no "New York" stamped on it, but it does have "Steel Ebonite" and G7.

Thanks,

Chloe

Hi Chloe, I have several old WW mps, G8's among them, a very frequently used facing, to me , medium in both tip and lay length. I visited them [NYC] back in the 1950's, had a couple mps refaced, good. They have been a major mp maker for years, and their "letter/number" descriptions are still used by some of our moderns/ I'll try to match mine with your description, perhaps others may HELP. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Does it have any other writing on it, like "Patent Process" ? Is the G7 printed on the table, or on the back?

There is no other writing on it. The G7 is printed on the back, between the two lines, just under STEEL EBONITE that has a circle R after it.

TKS for the pic, I've found one G8, it appears to be older than your G7*, I'd guess in the 50- 60's. with the Steel Ebonite and Reg US Trademark above G8 mjddle and The Woodwind Co New York below. It appears to be Hard Rubber, a dull black. some signs of green-brown coloring. Interesting, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

The one on the left is fron the 1980's or 90's. The one on the right is older, but it is not one of the early ones, since the facing is not on the table. I'm not sure, but I'd guess that it is probably from the 1960's-70's.
