E lucevan le stelle. That's a solo that you need to know, comes up everywhere in orchestral auditions. Besides, it just sounds awesome so learn it anyway.

Ben Armato's book, "The Opera Clarinetist" contains excerpts from the entire Puccini opera, "Tosca", as well as complete important motifs from 22 other often performed operas. I've had a lot of pleasure playing those beautiful melodies since Ben sent me my copy--I recommend it as highly as all those other orchestra excerpt books by McGinnis, Drucker & others.

The McGinnis/Drucker series contains, I think, no opera music at all aside from a few overtures. The long defunct International set of Wagner excerpts of course did, and volumes 11 and 12 of the Orchestral Musician's CD-ROM Library are all Wagner http://www.vcisinc.com/omcdrom.htm.
Ben Armato's book has page after page of gorgeous music, totally unfamiliar to anyone who doesn't know opera. Unfortunately, out-of-context clarinet solos don't mean much without the singers.

Both volumes of the Giampieri excerpt books ("Passi difficili e 'a solo'") contain tons of familiar and unfamiliar opera excerpts, including "e lucevan..."
Though oddly, not the solo from Luisa Miller (Verdi) - one of the best.
