Is the Eb part in Ravel's Bolero a separate part from the Bb parts, or is it a double? I played it a long time ago and can't recall how it is done. Thanks for the help.

It's a separate part but all there is is the brief solo near the beginning. I don't think the other clarinets are playing during the eefer solo so it probably could be played as a double. Could also double one of the sax parts.

Yes, it is a short solo, yes it is separate, yes it can be played as double. I have played second and eefer.

Just checked my parts. The entire Eb part essentially runs from rehearsal #3 to #4 (Eb plays 16 bars plus 1 beat). The 1st Bb clarinet is pretty much tacit from rehearsal #2 through most of #6. The second clarinet has nothing at all to play until rehearsal #9. The bass clarinet is tacit until rehearsal #8. So any of these players could double the Eb part (assuming they have and can play an eefer ). The earliest saxophone entry (tenor) isn't until rehearsal #6, so either sax player could also double the Eb solo.
