I'm about start rehearsals for the networks tour of the Drowsy Chaperone. I'm playing Reed 2 which includes flute, clarinet, alto sax and tenor sax (Reduced orchestration to 3 woodwind players). Just wondering if anyone here has played the show.

Hi Michael.
I played Reed 1 on this show when it was on in the West end 2 years ago.
The score is very well written by Larry Blank and runs without an interval- about 1 hour 45 mins.
The show is also very funny.It didn't do very well in London but the band loved it!
There's a moral there somewhere!

Enjoy the tour! I was supposed to be the Reed 3 player, but the notice ended up being just too short for me to tie up all my loose ends here in New York and leave for three months, and I have a couple great gigs coming up that I just didn't have the heart to sub out.
I've played the show before, but since it's been re-orchestrated down to 3 players, I'm not sure what you can expect since I don't know what the new orchestration will be. (When I played it, I played reed 3, which contains oboe/English horn, and I'd be very surprised if they kept any of that for the tour. Networks doesn't usually tour double reeds, as far as I know.)
Good luck and have fun! (and if you're into saving money, I'd recommend tripling or quadding in the hotel rooms; it's what several of us did on Hairspray, and we managed to not only NOT kill each other, but we had a lot of fun and I saved a TON of money!)
