The Cleveland Plain Dealer has posted a roster without links but with photos of all members. http://www.cleveland.com/musicdance/index.ssf/2009/09/putting_faces_names_to_each_me.html

The Orchestra's roster, with pictures and biographies, is at http://www.clevelandorchestra.com/html/about/MusiciansRoster.asp.

Did anyone see the interview with a Cl. Orch. administrator a few weeks ago in the NY Times? He came right out and said that Cleveland is no longer big enough to support a full-time 52-week-a-year orchestra, so they are doing 2 or 3 week residencies in Miami, Vienna, etc.

From the seating diagram, it appears "business as usual"--the clarinets are seated directly in front of the trumpets. I hope they have the plexaglass stand shields that our symphony bought to place behind our heads and deflect the blastissimos. Even then, I often still need to resort to ear protection, even tho I do not like it.

I've sat directly in front of Charlie Schluter (Principal Boston Sym. Trumpet), playing La Mer, and it was like being hit by a Gorilla.

I have similar memories of sitting in front of the piccolo trumpet for rehearsals and performances of The Rite of Spring. Ouch.
