 Mouthpiece Shops Paris

Hello!

My second post today, I know, I know!

I know that there are many specialists lurking around this forum - do anyone of you know where in Paris it would be the best for me to go to try out mouthpieces? I mean by going somewhere and having dozens and dozens of mouthpieces to try out to find *the* ones. As I now live in Germany, going to Paris is not big of a deal anymore, but I wouldn’t want to have to go a few times…

Thanks!
DAE

The Vandoren headquarters at Rue Lepic 56 in the 8th arrondissement (or was it 18th?) is a very good place to try out and buy mouthpieces. You get your own practice room to test mouthpieces in. When I went there and bought a mouthpiece, I even got seven free reeds...

Be sure not to go on Saturday....they are closed.
Here is Mrs. S in front of Vandoren....someone cropped me out.
Yes, I think it is the 18th Arondiswhatis...we were visiting our nephew.

Hello,
you can also try this one : http://www.lolifantparis.com/
They have Vandoren but also Selmer, Pomarico, etc. Big choice and very welcoming, they let you try at will.

You need to be aware that unless a mouthpiece made in France is destined for the US market, it is likely to be tuned to 442 rather than 440. Vandoren at 56 rue Lepic is a good place to visit, but they only have their own make. There are some good music stores around the rue de Rome, next to the Saint Lazare station, included Musique et Art and Feeling, which have other makes as well. For reasons, I've never been able to fathom, France does not have the same plethora of mouthpiece makers as the United States. Vandoren is definitely the most popular here.

Beejay, thanks, but here we play 443-445! 442 is fine with a shorter barrel but I wouldn’t want to try a US-market 440.
