Hello all,
I am playing at a potluck at my school in a week and a half, and I need a piece that is around 5 minutes in length. I prefer a piece written for B-flat clarinet. I does not have to include an accompaniment, but if it does, it has to be a piano accompaniment. The piece should sound lively, as 150 high school students probably do not want to listen to 5 minutes of something like the Larghetto of K.581.
Any suggestions?

Look at the "Francoeur" (actually by Kreisler) Prelude and Rigaudon a/k/a Sicilienne and Rigaudon. Its a short lyric piece followed by a fast, bouncy piece that requires a quick tongue.
It's in the Bonade 16 Grands Solos de Concert for Clarinet and Piano, available as item C165 at http://www.vcisinc.com/clarinetmusiccollections.htm. The collection costs $39.95, but it has lots of other good stuff and is worth the price.

A couple of mov't. from Eric Simons Bach for the clarinet publ. by Schirmers. I played two of them for my senior assembly in high school many moons ago. They'er lively and showy. Weber Concertino beginning with the Theme, leaving out the introduction and perhaps the slow adagio section before the finale. Any fast mov't of almost any concerto that you know with a few discrete cuts. ESP
