 Rovner VERSA

I can't seem to find out what's different between the VERSA and the previous EDDIE DANIELS II. The rovner site said something about a new material, but all information seems vague.

Has anyone tried these ligatures yet?

That's pretty much it, new material. This way he probably doesn't have to pay Eddie Daniels a fee every time he sells one because it no longer carries his name. That's my guess. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

Hadn't thought of that. Sorry he worked to make the ligature to have his name only to be replaced by a new material and name! Oh well. Any thoughts on the "new" material?

I know Phil Rovner pretty well and I'm one of his "play testers". That is when he decides to make a change he usually sends me, as well as a few others, to give our opinion. Many times he did not put something into production because of that. A great many times he makes a change because he can no longer get the materials he was using or the manufacture is not sending them to his standards. He doesn't make all the materials himself, he has to buy the materials and hardware in most cases. He also makes changes when he thinks he has a better idea or is trying to keep his cost down. That's why he makes several models in different price ranges. He's made many changes over the years and I for one think when he does produce something new it is better than the one it replaced. I don't get paid for trying them for him but I do get to keep any new ligature I like so I've upgraded several times over the years. I'm now using a bass clarinet ligature that did not go into production for a variety of reasons but I loved it so I'm the only one that has it. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com
