 Very Old Clarinet : PENN
Author: T.Haas

I have an old "think it is Bb" bohem system clarinet marked "PENN /made in Italy". I hope to find images of the "GüTTER BETHLEHEM" . I know that his family produced instruments in Germay but have found in early archives that he was involved with Italian instrument design. At this point I have no photos to post, the instrument is not here with me at the moment. Thank you for any assistance.

I didn't know of Penn as a maker, TKS. His association with Italien makers? could it have been Pupeschi, who had some novel ideas ?? I had a Pup-modified Conn , now in a museum, Fiske, Al Rice perhaps, who supplied me with several published articles on P's contributions to turn-of-century cls . If so, you may have a rare bird. Will look forward to a number of pics. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don
