 Fibonacci's Dance score correction
Author: Lelia Loban 2017

Ed Lowry has caught a typographical error in "Fibonacci's Dance," my piece for bass clarinet and piano. The clarinet player's first note in bar 47, whether for extended range or an octave higher for an instrument without extended range, should be D, not C.

In updating the score to work with an upgrade of the composing software, I also transferred the same error to "Fibonacci's Dance 2," the transposition for alto clarinet or basset horn with piano. They're separate scores, because in order to take advantage of the lowest range of the indicated clarinet, I needed to transpose the piano part. In the original version, the
piano part is in concert G minor with the bass clarinet in A minor. In "Fibonacci's Dance 2," the piano is transposed to concert C minor with the Eb alto clarinet part in A minor (same as the part for Bb bass clarinet); while the basset horn part is in G minor. That means the first note in bar 47 for the alto clarinet should be clarinet D and for the basset horn, basset C.

How embarrassing that I didn't catch the goof myself. Please correct it on your printed-out sheet music. I've now fixed the score online as well.

The music is easier to find online if you don't try to use the Sibelius Music search function right now. It's under construction and giving surrealistic results. Instead, go to my page (below my signature), click on the "Winds" section and follow the link to "Fibonacci's Dance." Using the Sibelius site's "Scorch" program, you can listen or print out free of charge. If weird things happen, please try again the next day. Sorry in advance about any inconvenience, but the host site has been under construction for a couple of months and the transition has been one hell of a mess.

Thank you, Ed Lowry, for the correction!
