Keys and joints for clarinets.

I have in my possession a number of curious odds and ends;

I have the upper and lower joint of an E11 Buffet but, no keys, no bell and no tuning barrel.

Where can a purchase just the keys for this?

I also havr the upper joint of both an R13 prestige and a Festival. Again, no keys and no lower joint.

Where would you get these parts?

Any ideas?

The cheapest way is probably to buy a clarinet with the keys on it.
And that is possibly how you have in existence a body without keys.

Are these joints new/unused (but have never been mounted) or discarded because they've split?

Thanks Chris,

The R13 and Festival were used. The Festival looks like it had a large crack that was repaired.

The E11 joints look unused.

If it were feasible I would love to put together some sort of instrument. If not, lampshades I suppose.

Clarinet joints make poor lampshades, considering their rather small bore. [wink]

Years ago I looked up the cost of individual parts in the Windcraft catalogue to make a complete clarinet from, and the total cost was in excess of what you can buy a new clarinet of the same make and model for, so not really cost effective do rebuild this way.

But isn't it always cheaper if you say get a massive crack in your upper joint that is beyond repairing to strip that joint down and get a new joint and refit the keys to it ?

If you have an existing clarinet and only need to transplant the cracked joint, then that will indeed be cheaper to get a new joint (pillared and sprung but not mounted) and transfer the keys from the original joint across to it.

But having only pillared and sprung joints with no keys, and then having to buy all the keys to then fit to them will be expensive.
