New York Philharmonic - Mark Nuccio
Author: Ken Shaw 2017
Date:   2009-08-20 17:13

The New York Philharmonic site now shows Mark Nuccio as the Acting Principal Clarinet, with Pascual Martinez Forteza moving to Acting Associate Principal and Eb. Nobody is listed for Bass Clarinet. See http://nyphil.org/meet/orchestra/index.cfm?page=section§ionNum=7, http://nyphil.org/meet/orchestra/index.cfm?page=section§ionNum=9 and http://nyphil.org/meet/orchestra/index.cfm?page=section§ionNum=3.

Also, the Philharmonic published its 2009/10 subscription concert schedule in yesterday's Times. Mark is listed to play the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante with the other wind principals on February 10, 11, 12 and 16 and the Beethoven Septet on February 27.

Congratulations to Mark. I hope he gets the permanent appointment.

Ken Shaw

Could that happen? Mark would do a great job, but would they do that after not giving it to him in the previous Audition? Considering no news of a new Audition it certainly could be.

Then there's Chicago......

Mark comes to Steamboat Springs every summer to play in our music festival and owns a second home here. He told that the bass position won't be auditioned until the principal is named. He is looking forward to playing Berlioz Sym. Fant. 1st part this season, since He was always on Eb. He gave me a box of the Rico reserve Classic and I think they are the real deal. I mean He is not making reeds anymore, since these are so consistant.

Gary,

Make sure you tell Mark:
1) I am available to play the Eb part.
2) Give him my address so he can send me a box of these incredible reeds.
3) Ask him if I can stay at in the extra bedroom of his second home.

And let me know if you want us to play the Poulenc Duo at your festival.

Dileep, would you be on the A or Bb part?
