Hi,
Doing a bit of research as looking to tke up the clarinet again after a very long lay-off and was recently advised that there is limited stock of the Schreiber Aura 6045 which, I'm advised by the shop, is effectively a Buffet R13.
The reason being that since Buffet has moved manufacture away from Schreiber that they had a production run of B13's and effectively badged them as Aura's.
Can anyone confirm this? - if so I could effectively be buying an Aura ('badged' R13) for £200 cheaper than the 'genuine' R13.
Thanks.

I'd find a different shop. At best, these guys don't know what they are talking about. At worst .... Unless they have been lying to us all these years (which I seriously doubt), Buffet has always manufactured their professional models in France, never in Germany. The Schreiber plant only made Buffet student models. Schreiber never produced R13's for Buffet. Whatever the Aura 6045 is, it isn't an unlabeled R13.
Best regards,
jnk

Hi Jack,
Thanks - thought it was a bit of a strange 'sales pitch'.
Have elected for a Ridenour Lyrique.
Best Rgds.

The Schreiber 6045 is marketed as a new pro level clarinet sitting in the price range between the E13 and R13. It's produced in Germany by Schreiber (as were the B12 and E11 clarinets) and definitely not made by Buffet.

I've heard some misinformed (or made up on the spot) sales guff in my time when I used to work in a local retailer, so I'm not really surprised to hear someone saying the new Schreiber is an R13.

Interestingly enough he made specific comment that the register key was changed and that this was a benefit - the shop's in Glasgow, Scotland. So, unless anyone is particularly interested I'll keep the name anonymous.....
