 Mendelssohn Overture for winds
Author: David Niethamer

Has anyone here (Tony, Peter C, others) played the Mendelssohn Overture in its original version, which calls for 2 clarinets in F, 2 in C and 2 basset horns in F?

Does anyone know of a recording using the original forces? I can't find one in the usual obvious places (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.)

I want my U of Richmond students to play this in the "modern" band version, but want to get a sense of the original scoring and sound to guide our rehearsals.

Many thanks in advance for any help.
