For articulation speed, I'm wondering what adjustment methods players use for the tip of the reed, if it all, or any part of the reed...
When a lot of reed adjustment work gets done on everything but the tip, sanding; etc, for me the tip gets a little thudy and tonguing gets slowed. I've tried delicately feather sanding the tip... with some success..
With variations in mouthpiece/reed combination (thicker/shorter or german cut reeds as opposed to longer french) I guess my question is, what reed adjustments (or selection) might players do to aid in articulation speed? (for me this becomes nerve-racking when switching from a practice room to a hall)
thanks =o

Check out this reed adjustment video on You Tube from Michele Gingras.

I've tried her method--it's easy to follow, and it really works.

The method from Michele Gingras is good as far as it goes and it's just a part of the ATG system(as the testing goes but the finishing is different with the ATG) which cover all the things you need.

Just remember, anytime you make an adjustment to alter any part of the reed to achieve a specific result it may adversely effect something else. In this case, as an example, it could weaken the upper register, or make your throat tones weaker or possibly result in a thinner tone. Check my website and look for the reed adjustment page, I have many different ideas. Experiment to find what works best for you. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

Re the youtube item mentioned above by clarinetguy
I notice that she does not wet the reed rush.
I always wet mine a bit (and use a glass plate with the reed off of the mouthpiece)
Does anyone else who uses rush apply it dry??
