 Orsi clarinet?

Does anyone have experiences with the Orsi clarinet?
Actually, the Rossi clarinet interests me but it's not easy to get it from where I'm living.
I already asked for the price lists to the Orsi.com.
They didn't answer me though.

Are there any other one-body clarinets except for Orsi & Rossi?
I'll be pleased with any ideas, comments about the one-body clarinet.

Best regards

One piece clarinets have pluses and minuses. A plus is that he C#/G# key can go where it will do the most good for proper tone prudection, without making compromises required by a two-piece body. A disadvantage is that they are not as flexible in their tuning. Sometimes, you might need to pull out the middle joint for tuning, but you can't on a one-piece body.

Others have written on the Orsi brand in this list, and have not been all that impressed with them. Orsi and Weir is a different matter. These instruments are made in Canada by John Weir, and are much higher quality. They are two-piecers. They recently chaged the name to Taplin & Weir http://www.taplinweir.com/

For me as a technician, an important method of leak detection is to block the end of a section, close the pads with one hand, and use the other hand to press on possibly offending, normally closed keys.

This method is impossible if my second hand is already used for closing holes.

So I regard single piece clarinets to be a nuisance for working on.
I agree, the C#/G# may sound better.

it is also claimed the the C#/G# tone hole on a Rossi is impervious to collection water condensed in the bore (we don't salivate in our instruments like, say, French Horn players seem to do).

BUT, I've loaned absorptive paper to Rossi players.

Could someone de-undercut that flooding tone hole in my Buffet? SIGH Today's session cut short with bubbly G#.

In addition two more diasadvantages of one piece clarinet are the longer case, and that you can't control the alignment of left hand and right hand tone holes. The latter wasn't actually a problem on one piece clarinets that I've tried, but it was, for me at least, on the Bliss student clarinet which had the PRAG (which makes it the same as one piece in that regard).
