Is there ay difference of the bores of the LeBlanc LL and the LeBlanc L7?

I measured the L7 I had [sold] at 14.85 mm at the top of the U J and about 14.80 at the bot of the U J. I'm still unsure whether it is "tapered" and not totally cylindrical. Others, please help. It played very well. Don

My Leblanc LL 18/7 serial 225xx is
top of UJ is 14.75mm at very top, but 14.65 15mm down as far as my calipers will go
bottom of UJ is 14.80mm

I think the L7 has a conical bore.

I think the L7 was the first model where Leblanc introduced some taper into the top joint, continued later in the L200 etc.
The LL has a perfectly parallel top joint of 14.80 mm (at least it had when it was manufactured) mine are still accurate to within 0.001" after 49 years.

My 1964 LL and 1972 LL both measure approximately 14.75 at each end of the upper joint.

It is unfortunately very common for the bore at the very top of the upper joint to swell inwards, this is particularly likely if the bore was not oiled regularly when the instrument was new and is caused by the effect of warm moist breath on the unprotected wood.
For accuracy the bore needs to be measured continuously along its length, not easily done if you do not possess the neccessary special tools.
Most swelling usually occurs in about the first inch of bore length, it can be corrected by an experience tech with the correct reamers.
