Was Michelle Z the clarinet player? It sounded like Leister, but the album notes said that it was the Columbia Symphony Orchestra. A quick search connected Columbia with the LA Phil as of 6/28/09 on Wikipedia. I know that there are quite a few top-notch clarinetists in LA, but it sounded to me like a really long facing, close tip, hard reed combination. Perhaps Mr. Blumberg will know...

I've read that Walter's Columbia Symphony was a New York pickup group and that David Weber was principal clarinet for many if not most of the recordings.
Of course there's no guarantee that he was on the Classical Barbra recording.
