Strauss' Sonatine for Winds No. 1 in F

I seem to have developed a minor-league obsession with this piece, due mainly to repeated listenings of Orpheus' recording of it.

In spite of lengthy web searches, I see nowhere to find used scores or used score & parts for sale for the piece. (Several outlets, including Boosey, have new copies of the "pocket" score. I was hoping for something a normal person could read, however, since although the "pocket" score is about 9x12 and two hundred-something pages long, the notes are dinky.)

Anybody know if there's a source where one could buy used orchestral parts & score of the piece? I imagine Boosey would rent same, but wouldn't you think there'd be a store where old symphonic scores & parts would go when an orchestra disbands, or better editions come out and the old ones get discarded, or something?

I think the piece has been discussed here over the years, but I can't find the thread for it. It sounds like a blast to play--bubbling woodwinds all over the place, lines and counter-lines, rich harmonic textures, etc. etc.

It is a wonderful piece. Very big part for the C clarinet, 1st French horn and 1st Oboe.
I played the basset horn part 2 years ago, I can find out within few days
were it was rented.
Did you try music libraries for the score? I see that you live in NY, there must be a good music library nearby :-)

Sarah--thanks for the offer. if you "just happen" to come across the rental info, I'd love it, but not if you have to move mountains. I'll have to check further locally, too.

thanks, Ed, there's a nice meaty part for bass too, as I'm sure you know. It'd be terrific fun to have ALL the clarinet parts and woodshed them, one after the other (clarinets in C, Bb, A, basset horn and bass in both A and Bb).
