My copy of Brymer's "Clarinet", which I've had since my school days, recently suffered water damage, and had to be thrown out. I'm thinking I'd like to replace it.
What I had was the 1977 edition. I notice that there's now a 2001 edition. Is there any substantial difference between the two? Or is the newer publication simply a reprint?
Or should I get some other book entirely?
Please advise.

Seconded: it's a great, great book - one of the clarinet essentials I think. And alas there won't be any more revisions.
I saw Brymer once, walking across London Bridge carrying a Howarth's bag. (Him not me.) Wanted to just say a quick 'love your work' but didn't. Silly me, wish I had...

I have a hardback copy of the original 1976 edition signed by Brymer who mentioned at the time a few errors had crept in. I also have a 1992 reprint paperback edition of the 1979 revised version in which I understand he made some corrections although I never made a line by line comparison.
I assume the 2001 version is a repint of his 1979 update but check the publishers print details inside front pages.
There are no substantial differences between 1976 and 1979 versions.
