 Hello!

I have a beautiful Yamaha Custom Bflat clarinet that I am struggling to value as it is no longer in production.

I am assuming it was made or imported from Japan as it is embossed with the following:
Yamaha Nippon Gakki Custom 82 II

It was bought second hand for me as a child around 1992 and cost about £800. It was originally part of a pair, but I only have the Bflat as I (sadly) didn't need both at such a young age.

I played very seriously in to my late teens but stage fright kept getting the better of me so it has just become a hobby as I couldn't overcome my nerves to take my playing into the professional world.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks x

The current equivalent of the YCL-82II is any of the Custom series models except the YCL-CX (which has inserted toneholes and sheet metal bell ring) and the CSGH (with Hamilton plated keys).

So for insurance valuation purposes, insure it for the current full retail price of a YCL-CSV, SEV or AEV (or even a CSG with silver plated keys), and add the value of your mouthpiece and ligature to the price as well.
