Do you remember cartoons that had Elmer Fudd or Daffy Duck waking up and there was always this bright, wake up, enjoy the day kind of music?
Does anyone have any suggestions for a book of music that is intermidate to easy and ahs that bright kind of feel. So many books I have tried have some, however the majority leans toward a dark feel.
Even individual peices that have that same feel would be appreciated.

Are you thinking of "Morning Mood" from Grieg's "Peer Gynt?" That's one of the pieces Carl Stalling (Warner's musical director) used to reference in the Warner Brothers' cartoons for "wake up" scenes.
There's a nice piece called "Capricious Imp" (composed by Carl Frangkiser, maybe?) that might be a little challenging depending on where you are on the "easy to intermediate" scale, but it's fun and happy and interesting to play. I don't know if it's available in a collection, but you can get it at Sheet Music Plus with piano accompaniment for about $5.

Two I can think of:
The Classic Experience--this is published by Middle 8 Music
Short Classical Pieces for Clarinet
I use the first one on a regular basis for myself and my students, especially for Preludes. The second one is really good too.

I don't know about availability but Phil Harris recorded a lot of music with a cartoon-like feel to it; songs like "The Thing" and "Goofus". If you can't find the music try getting a CD and playing by ear.

Yes, I also like that "type" of music, classical, jazz-ballads, light-contempts, even some bluegrass, to play to/for old folks at our retirement village, where we often need a "NOT-discouraging word" as in one favorite song. Having played a lot of old "dance band" charts, some are easily recalled, others I've found may be "unearthed" just by finding the lyrics [at no cost] on the web, or words and music from a number of pay-for-copying sites. Infrequently having a piano accompanyist, most are solo, so I dont worry about transpositions, cl or sax. My fellow "inmates" seem to enjoy, but not to the extent of "throwing dollars". Don

To: Mark C, GBK, et al - Searching for lyrics to "Cinco de Mayo [none too successfully], I stumbled into "The Mudcat Cafe" site , picking Cielito Lindo to see what TMC had, and found the played single note tune as well as the lyrics. I will memorize and perhaps copy lyrics for my 5-5 playing to friends here. Do you see any copyright involvement here or other difficulties ?? You may want to supress this post if so. TKS, Don
