I was lucky to hear Julian's New York recital debut at the Lincoln Center recital hall on a Sunday morning in the spring of 2008. What a special player and a very nice young guy.

Who says a C clarinet doesn't have a pleasing sound?

And guess what Julian is already better than Acker Bilk at age 6. Amazing? No that task is very easy ;)

I suspect Acker, if he put in his front teeth and used a different mouthpiece, could easily make a conventional clarinet sound - but why should he? If the public didn't like his playing the way it is, they wouldn't buy his recordings. I'm sure he laughs at insults such as Iceland's all the way to the bank.

Well LesterV then Kenny G must be great. NB I don't know a saxophonist who like his playing.

Clarinetists don't like Acker Bilk's sound and Saxophonists don't like Kenny G - so what! They are both very successful where it counts - with the general public. All I am saying is that either of them would be stupid to change their style and consequently risk losing their public appeal just to appease some of their fellow musicians - a very small segment of the buying public.
