"Antique" Low C Buffet Bass Clarinet

Have any of you had any experience with "antique" 1930s or 40s low C Buffet bass clarinets that have: (1) an extended bell (like the bells on Selmer rosewood contra altos, (2) the Db and C tone holes on the bell, and (3) two separate register keys? I'm thinking about "auditioning" one and would apprciate your thoughts.

The design doesn't matter as long as it is well-executed. My own cobbled-together metal Frankenhorn is a perfect example [grin]

Audition the old Buffet and if you like it, hire it!

But to answer your question, Don, afraid I have no experience with that particular instrument to offer you. The separate register keys will take some getting used to -- I have those on a German-system F. Uebel bass I'm fooling around with, and haven't quite gotten comfortable with the switchover yet. The location of the lower toneholes is irrelevant as long as the resulting notes are in tune and not excessively resistant.
