Which is a better option for 2nd clarinet to use during marching band/pep band only: yamaha 250 or leblanc 7212 or 7214. Any ideas on where to look for good used instrument?

"Any ideas on where to look for good used instrument?"

Keep an eye on eBay listings - and especially the 'Buy it Now' listings. Yamahas are easy to repair if they need any work done on them (and assume a used one will need some work, so budget for that).

If you don't find any YCL-250s, the 26II and other plastic Yamahas are all good instruments. I use a 30+ year old YCL-24 for outdoor and marching use, and it's a good instrument that I'd have no problem using in any setting if I felt like it.

You could also check the Clarinuts site for some decent used plastic horns. Might as well give business to a sponsor of this board! ;) Look on the right side of this webpage and click on the button for INSTRUMENTS.

Any Bundy Resonite (Selmer) clarinet. They have a big sound and are vertually indestructable.

Check with the White House of Music: they may have some used instruments in stock.

I'm sure there are others, but I second the old Bundy for a good outdoors back up horn. eBay's got many for auction each week.
